THE PIONEERS OF THE ARCHAEOLOGY PETRERÍ

Dámaso Navarro Guillén (1946-1978) was the driving and host of the Archaeologic Group Petrerense, a group of pertinent youngsters of distinct associations that had interest for looking for the material rests of the ancient inhabitants of Petrer. The Group assumed the tasks of recovery, conservation and diffusion of the archaeologic heritage venue. Many of the pieces recovered were exhibited in temporary exposures in distinct edifices like the Comparsa Labradores or the Centre Excursionista. After the premature death of Dámaso, in his honour, the Archaeologic Group took his name, and when it created the museum in 1999 was called Municipal Museum Room Dámaso Navarro, maintaining when it was recognised like official museum of the Valencian Community.
