PETRER LOW MEDIAEVAL AND IN THE MODERN PERIOD

The Christian conquest comported the step to the Petrer mudéjar, with a feudal regime, modifications in the castle and the enlargement of the urban enclosure. By the Treaty of Almizra (1244) belonged to the realm of Castilla, and after the Treaty of Elche (1305), with the monarch James II, already would form part of the Crown of Aragon. In modern period was traumatic the expulsion of the moriscos in 1609 since Petrer depopulated, remaining only 7 families of the 240 originals, until in 1611 was repopulated by 100 pertinent families of next municipalities. During the War of Succession the support to the monarch Felipe V of Borbón conferred him the title of Very Noble and Loyal Villa.

Index of the Giradora book corresponding to the period between 1726 and 1811. It consists of 24 pages consisting of a list of the property of the owners of the town. This index contains Petrer’s oldest known coat of arms.
